UTERINE PRESERVATION SURGERY (Hysteropexy)

Patient from Norway

Dr Miklos had the honor of performing a uterine preservation surgery known as laparoscopic hysteropexy on a patient from Norway this week. This 24-year-old woman, along with her supportive mother, flew more than 4500 miles and 10 hours to have her surgery with Dr John Miklos. She had a uterine suspension (hysteropexy), paravaginal repair and a posterior repair with vaginal rejuvenation.

The patient was diagnosed with uterine prolapse, cystocele and a rectocele in Norway. However, doctors in Norway told her she was too young to have surgery and only recommended physical therapy and a pessary. Her symptoms included: pressure, lower back pain, difficulty emptying her rectum as well as her bladder. She was told by many doctors that she either did not have a problem or there was nothing that can be done. She sought out Dr Miklos only 2 weeks earlier and had her surgery within 14 days. Her surgery was completed in less than 3 hours and with a tablespoon of blood loss. She spent one day in the hospital and was discharged to her hotel.
